My journey into creating the art which a good friend of mine named "Bark Art," started when I saw photographs of a tree called the Rainbow Eucalyptus. Native to Southeast Asia, the Rainbow Eucalyptus originally came to Hawaii in1929. It now grows here in the States in places like Hawaii, California and Florida. As you can see from the photo,
the tree has rainbow colored bark.
I have not yet been able to visit this tree in person but I was so WOWED and inspired by seeing this beautiful being that I decided I had to create some rainbow colored bark, here. I use colored pencils, watercolors and and acrylics to color the bark and each piece is made to hang on a wall. I pick up pieces of fallen bark wherever I go. Typically, I can work on a piece for days, weeks and sometimes months. .
I hope you will enjoy looking through the gallery and possibly find a piece that calls to you as a special gift for yourself or for someone in your life.
